Identifying Facts
1.)The gravedigger talked about how both great and not great people still become thesame thing when they die. He compares Hamlet’s friend, Yorick, the Royal CourtJester and as well as Alexander the Great. He says that both have gone to the soiland have become the dust of the world.2.)She is denied of her rites because she is seen to commit suicide since she had thechance to save herself. Doing this violates what the church at that time set uponthem, so therefore she was not given the church’s rites.3.)Both Hamlet and Laertes are enraged when Ophelia’s burial has happened. Theyare also both saddened by the incident. Ophelia was Laertes’ sister and she wasthe only one he had left since his father also died. Hamlet on the other hand lovedOphelia but he claims that his love for her is misunderstood that both of them arein conflict of each other’s thoughts.4.)Yorick is the Court’s Jester during the time when Hamlet was still young. Headmired him dearly saying that he has been a great friend that he is a “fellow of great jest”5.)Hamlet took the letter Claudius gave Rozencrantz and Guildenstern that said tokill Hamlet and changed it to guarantee Rozencrantz and Guildenstern’s deaths.He put back the forged letter which he has stamped with his father, King Hamlet’sroyal seal. Horatio didn’t seem to care about them much because he does notcomment about them but he commented about Claudius instead.6.)Hamlet feels regret and he feels responsible for what he has done to him. He alsoadmires Laertes with his passion and bravery in response to grief.7.)The king wants to venom Laertes’ sword during the swordfight that will about tocommence. Laertes will then hit Hamlet with the sword then he will be killed byit. As a backup plan, Claudius intends to put poison in his cup of wine so that if Hamlet gets tired, he would drink from the cup and die from it.8.)Horatio means that he will die along with Hamlet when he says this line referringto Brutus and Cassius when their defeat was certain, they committed suicide.Horatio plans to die along with Hamlet to show how loyal he is to the prince.9.)Hamlet requests Horatio to live and tell the tale of what really happened throughout the whole entire play. He wants everyone to know about this incident. Hamletdesignates Fortinbras to be the heir of the throne of Denmark.
Interpreting Meanings
10.)Shakespeare wrote about the gravediggers to show that there are unpredictablecharacters in the story or that there are characters that wear masks in the story.Gravediggers are supposed to be stupid however, this gravedigger in the storytalked about things that are genuinely unique.11.)Hamlet’s indiscretion conclude that Hamlet’s carelessness is somewhat flawed buthowever, he is blessed with luck where he can do what he intends to. This alsohelps Hamlet know what he should do through brainstorming with Horatio.
