This event is free and open to the public, and will take place at the Writers in Progress studio#359 in the Arts & Industry Brushworks Building in Florence, MA. A reception with refreshments will follow the reading. Writers in Progress is the Valleys literary arts center. Our mission is to provide the community, inspiration and editorial guidance to enhance writers lives and work. Our small workshops and one-on-one mentoring attract people who want to take their writing to the next level in a supportive, thoughtful atmosphere. Founded by Dori Ostermiller in 1992, we have been helping writers discover their voices and complete their projects for two decades! Williamstown, MA- Producer Patti Cassidy announced that her program, Play Caf, has received a grant from the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire to bring the theater process to the public. The series, which presents actors reading works-in-progress with the playwright present, allows the public to see how plays get made. This program benefits everyone involved, Cassidy said. The general public gets follow the decisions that go into developing a drama. The playwright has an opportunity to hear a script being read, which is essential in developing a work. And the actors involved get exposure, credits, and a DVD of their performance. Play caf is broadcast not only at WilliNet, channel 17, where it originates, but at other Access stations in the Berkshires as well. It is also available any time at www. willinet.org. Cassidy is a playwright herself and has produced a number of series on Community Access TV stations in the past. At the height of the financial crisis in 2008, the U.S. government bailed out our nations banks and nationalized our home mortgage system. The grass can be greener on your side of the fence if you heed these eight hints on making the most of mowing. 1. Choose the Correct Cutting Height: This depends on the type of grass, the amount of rainfall, prevailing temperature and the lawns overall condition. 2. Dont Cut Your Grass Too Short: Mowing too short can result in weak, thin grass thats easily damaged by drought and pests. Leaving your grass a bit longer reduces heat buildup and preserves needed s1/8 moisture. A good rule of thumb is the one-third rulecut no more than a third of the grass height and never more than an inch at a time. 3. Mow With Sharp Blades: Sharp blades cut grass cleanly and efficiently; dull blades tear at the grass, harming it. 4. Mow When the Grass Is Cool and Dry: Late afternoon or early evening often provides ideal mowing conditions. Dont mow after rain or even heavy dew and never mulch when the grass is wet. Aerate in the Spring: Using a n a e r a t o r t o r e m o v e c o r e s of soil from the lawn increases clipping decomposition speed and encourages deeper root growth by opening up the soil and permitting greater movement of water, fertilizer and air. 8. Select the Right Mower: The right mower for your lawn depends on the size of the property, whether there are hills and whether you want it to help with other chores, such as pulling a cart for yard work.

Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra has over 106 recordings; the excellence of these recordings has been

Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) has awarded Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra its most valued award, the Commendation of Excellence. The only one ever awarded in the polka field. The band constantly attracts crowds of screaming, adoring fans wherever their travels take them. Their tremendous popularity has resulted in not only numerous Grammy Awards, but also being voted The #1 polka band in the country for the past ten years. The bottom line: Follow the oil change recommendations in the vehicle's owner's manual. Pay close attention to the oil life monitor if a vehicle has it. When the monitor says it's time for a change, it's time. Drivers need to pay close attention to their vehicle usage because vehicle manufacturers sometimes recommend oil drain intervals based on driving habits. Do you know what you're getting? Your service provider should be happy to supply you with the brand, viscosity grade and performance level of the oil they use before it is poured into your vehicle. It's also important to ask for that information in writing or on the receipt. Drive away from locations that don't know or won't confirm in writing what they're pouring into your vehicle. Who can you trust? The American Petroleum Institute certifies oil change locations under the MOM program. Service providers that are MOM-certified D have had their quality control L procedures O independently audited S and have made the commitment to always tell their customers exactly what oil is going into their cars. Does the oil meet the performance level recommended for my car? Motor oil matters. Any motor oil poured into a vehicle should meet the level of performance recommended by the vehicle manufacturer in the owner's manual. For many vehicles, manufacturers recommend oils that comply with the latest ILSAC (International Lubricant Specification Advisory Committee) or American Petroleum Institute

standards. The American Petroleum Institute independently audits and licenses motor oils that meet its standards. Licensed oils carry the American Petroleum Institute's Starburst or Donut certification marks as a representation and warranty that these oils meet the institute's standards. Getting a full change? Make sure the oil change includes a fresh filter. Your owner's manual likely recommends a particular type of oil filter, so make sure the right one is included with your oil change.
