 Job Description
 Job Summary
 The Associate Director will collaborate with <agency> programs, otherchurch offices, and private and civic agencies to assist in the directionof emergency preparedness, response, and mitigation activities.
Knowledge and Abilities
<Local Agency> structure; Catholic Church structure; CatholicCharities USA structure and organization
Emergency resources and procedures
FEMA- National Response Plan, Incident Command System, FEMAcourses
<City>, regional and other response organizations’ emergencyprograms.
Specific Job Duties
 1. Assist Director of Emergency Management to develop emergencypreparedness plans/timelines for <agency> Programs.2. Assist Director of EM to develop training curriculum to prepare staff to carry out all hazards emergency preparedness plans. These willinclude drills and table top activities.3. Assist Director of EM to write and develop hurricane and all hazardspolicies and procedures. Assist in updating this information as needed.4. Assist Director to plan and coordinate future response efforts of <agency and (Arch)Diocese> and participate in Emergency Response Team meetings.5. Develop relationships with Red Cross, FEMA, state and local policeand fire departments, and local EOC’s in order to have communicationchannels open and available in times of disasters and to coordinateresponse efforts.6. The Associate Director will assist in coordinating relief efforts andcommunicating with local officials to gather relevant data.

7. In an emergency situation assist in evaluation and needsassessments. Ability to organize and supervise work teams in anemergency and remain calm at all times.8. Develop relationships with the Archdiocesan Clergy to developparish wide relief efforts and ways for parishioners to get involved inrelief and disaster training.9. Assist Director in developing increased communication with theclergy and provide education on Catholic Charities programs that mayassist the parishioners.10. Assist Director by carrying out administrative duties such assetting up appointments, paper work, developing agendas formeetings, research, etc.11. Work as a team player with all members of the agency tocoordinate the duties of this position. Ensure the organization of work,attend to details and follow through to meet objectives.12. The Associate Director of EM shall be flexible in terms of job dutiesdue to the nature of disaster management. The need to changecourses is often necessary to accomplish a particular task at hand.13. Adapt to and work effectively with a variety of situations,individuals, and groups.14. Present facts and opinions clearly and concisely both orally and inwriting.
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Director of Emergency Management.
Training and Experience
Master’s Degree in Public Health or Social Services required. Minimumof 2-3 years experience in disaster relief, social services, and/oremergency preparedness required.
