 Job Description
 Job Summary
 The Director will collaborate with <agency> programs, other churchoffices, and private and civic agencies to assist in the direction of emergency preparedness, response, and mitigation activities.
Knowledge and Abilities
<Agency> structure, Catholic Church structure; CatholicCharities USA structure and organization
Emergency resources and procedures
FEMA- National Response Plan, Incident Command System, FEMAcourses
<city>, regional and other response organizations’ emergencyprograms.
Experience in computer and internet usage.
Understanding, appreciation of, and sensitivity to gender,cultural, racial, faith differences, varied abilities, and politics andtraditions.
Specific Job Duties
Develop emergency preparedness plans/timelines and goalsetting for <agency> Programs.
Develop training curriculum to prepare staff to carry out allhazards emergency preparedness plans according to the Councilon Accreditation (COA). These will include drills and table topactivities.
Develop hurricane and all hazards policies and procedures andupdate this information as needed.
 The Director of EM is responsible for managing allcommunication devices and tools for emergency purposes (i.e.emergency phones, emergency number cards, IRISCommunication system).
Plan and coordinate future response efforts of <agency>.

Coordinate, plan and facilitate Emergency Response Teammeetings.7.Develop relationships with Red Cross, FEMA, state and localpolice and fire departments, and local EOC’s in order to havecommunication channels open and available in times of disastersand to coordinate response efforts.
Participate in cooperative strategic planning for the region suchas <LTRCs>, Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD)and other interfaith organizations as necessary to strengthen therelationship between <agency> and other relief agencies.
 The Director will coordinate relief efforts and communicate withlocal officials to gather relevant data.
Coordinate alternate evacuation sites for small and large scaleemergencies and attain Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).Review MOUs annually and make changes as needed to suit theneeds of <agency> and the other party.
In an emergency situation assist in evaluation and needsassessments. Ability to organize and supervise work teams in anemergency and remain calm at all times.
Develop relationships with the Archdiocesan Clergy to developparish wide relief efforts and ways for parishioners to getinvolved in relief and disaster training.
Develop increased communication with the clergy and provideeducation on <agency> programs that may assist theparishioners.
Work as a team player with all members of the agency tocoordinate the duties of this position. Ensure the organization of work, attend to details and follow through to meet objectives.
 The Director of EM shall be flexible in terms of job duties due tothe nature of disaster management. The need to change coursesis often necessary to accomplish a particular task at hand.16.Adapt to and work effectively with a variety of situations,individuals, and groups.
