,isthehomewherethegreatoratorandabolitionistFrederickDouglasslivedattheendofhislife.ItsitsontheoneofthehighestpointsinAnacostia,andrecentlycompletedathree-yearrestoration.ItoverflowswithartifactsillustratingthelifethatDouglasslivedtherewithhisfamily.
Tudor Place Historic House and Garden
inGeorgetownwasbuiltbyMarthaWashington’sgranddaughter,MarthaCustisPeter,andherhusband,ThomasPeter,sonofthefirstMayorofGeorgetownin1816.Thesamefamilylivedinthehomeuntil1983,includingtheperiodoftheCivilWar,whenthehomewasopenedasaboardinghouseforUnionOfficersbyBritanniaPeterKennon,aSouthernsympathizer.ThemuseumandarchivesholdsanextensivecollectionofrareCivilWarartifactsanddocuments.
