 Those o us who ollow Michigan State University and college basketball looorward to the month o March and what is known as March Madness. It’s thatexciting time o year when the NCAA tournament brings hope that our Spartans will provide more great memories during the chase to bring another nationalchampionship to our region. The team at the Lansing Regional Chamber o Commerce is launching its own version o March Madness as we will provide our members with a wealth o businesseducation and networking opportunities eaturing no ewer than
eight 
outstandingevents this month.By the time this edition o FOCUS magazine arrives on your desk, our Chamberteam will have just caught its breath ollowing the 101st Annual Dinner, at whichhundreds o our members will have enjoyed great networking opportunities,drinking, dining and presentations o the Community Service, Outstanding SmallBusiness and Legacy Awards. There won’t be much time or rest as we move into an action packed month toppedby Governor Snyder’s keynote address at the 2013 Legislative Dinner on March 19(details on all our events can be ound in the Calendar o Events on page 3). The Economic Club luncheon on March 26 eatures ormer Congressman andnational mental health advocate Patrick Kennedy. The youngest child o the late U.S.Sen. Edward “Ted” Kennedy will be speaking on the need to increase support andawareness or mental health issues. The Chamber oers two new educational opportunities in March. The team atCBRE | Martin will present their Lansing ViewPoint, which examines trends in theoce, retail and commercial real estate markets at a lunch brieng on March 7. We are also proud to launch the rst o our new Business Education Series onMarch 12. This series should be o particular interest to small businesses in theregion who have a need or real-lie training and educational opportunities. Our rstprogram explores the value o internships, how to develop and maximize interns, andhow they can benet your business. We anticipate uture programs in the comingmonths on topics such as wellness/healthcare, media and marketing, taxes andnancials. We invite the small business community to provide the Chamber withtopics and ideas or uture programs.I’d also like to extend special invitation to those o you who would like to learn moreabout the Chamber, our team and the services we oer at our latest Chamber 360meeting on March 7.Finally, we have our popular Member Mixer, not once, but twice in March! We’llhave our rst ever morning mixer at Grand Traverse Pie Company on March 13,ollowed by our ater-work mixer sponsored by the Lansing Board o Water & Lightand Franklin Energy on March 14.I’d like to think there is something or everybody on our Chamber schedule inMarch.
