Cortico-medullary junction is identified by the red dotted line. The cortex (C) contains renal corpuscles surrounded by tubules of the nephron. The medulla (M) contains tubules and blood vessels are found throughout the cortex and the medulla. At higher magnification the tubules and the renal corpuscles of the cortex can be seen (next slide).
