Dear Brothers,Happy Holidays and welcome to the re-installment of the Iota Theta Newsletter. It is really exciting to be able to send this out and give all
alumni an update of the chapter. When the ofcers and I gathered at the
Balfour Leadership Training Workshop (BLTW) this summer one of our top goals was better alumni involvement and it starts right here with thisnewsletter.Iota Theta hit the ground running this summer. We welcomed new HouseCorporation President Travis Tangeman, who he and his wife Tracy are
expecting their rst child in a few months, back into the core of the chapter.
Also, Iota Theta sent an astonishing seven brothers to BLTW in August atthe University of Missouri. Pro-Consul John Amdor, Quaestor Connor Danahy, Recruitment Chair Mark Dorsey, First Semester Magister DavidWaruszewski, Second Semester Magister Andrew Meyer, Greek Chair Trent Pavic and I all formed goals and made sure we had fun together too.All of us took back to UD a renowned spirit for Sigma Chi. Nevertheless, Iota Theta also had a strong presence in the HorizonsPrograms. Recruitment Chair Mark Dorsey and Annotator Matt Ferriss participated in one of Sigma Chi’s most unique opportunities. In addition, senior Adam Calaway returned to Horizons in 2007 as an intern. In 2006he was a participant. He was one of three interns out of an applicant poolof 150, obviously a true honor.
As nals are approaching quickly it amazes me how fast this semester has
gone by. We had a great rush in September, an enjoyable golf outing inOctober and a wonderful initiation in November following a great pledge program. The brothers also participated in the SGA Greensweep and
competed in Greek Week. The ofcers have worked hard together and
they are very motivated. We have all learned not only about one another, but most importantly ourselves.I want to remind all of you, as another Holiday Season approaches, toenjoy your time with your family and friends. We plan to send out another newsletter in the spring with more updates. Furthermore, keep September or October 2008 in mind as the Iota Theta Chapter plans to celebrate its 20
th
Anniversary here in UD.In Hoc Signo Vinces.Fraternally Yours,Aria FarmandConsul

The Magister Experience: As Told by David Waruszewski

I consider it one of the highest honors tobe a Magister in Sigma Chi. Being able to lead
ve young men into the Iota Theta Chapter issomething, like all Magisters, will never forget. The Pledge Class consisted of four sophomoresand one junior all coming from different areas. With the great help of my four assistants; AdamCalaway, John Cima, Kyle Dalton and Tim Larkin,I felt we were able to fully ingrain the idealsof Sigma Chi into these young men. One of thebiggest aspects I enjoyed during the processwas the growth of these ve guys individuallyand as a collective pledge class. It was no moreevident then in their nal candle pass during I-Period.Even though times were stressful balancingacademics and the pledge class I would nevertrade the experience. The individual relationshipsI made with my Pledge Class were a treat. Therewas always respect between these guys and myassistants and I. I feel everyone involved duringthe pledge process gained a new or rekindledspirit for Sigma Chi, which in the end helps theChapter grow.
