Blood
Blood is a fluid connective tissue, made of living cells and nonliving elements.
The different parts of blood can beseparated by placing it in a centrifuge.
 
Blood
The bottom (heaviest) layer contains
erythrocytes
, or red blood cells,
leukocytes
, or white blood cells, and platelets.
The remaining fluid of blood is called
plasma
. Plasma contains:
 – 
Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, etc)
 – 
Proteins (antibodies, blood clotting, etc)
 – 
 Nutrients, waste, hormones, and respiratorygases.
