Topics to Write about KitchensIn the BeginningGod made Man and from and after tearing one of his ribs out he made Woman! And manspent 24 hours in A&E trying to get stitched up! What a divil that God fellow is! And therest is history as they say.Well I won’t say that buying a new kitchen or having the whole kitchen space remodelledis like that. But the two of the main players that God created, in that rib-tickling exercise, are, in 90% of cases, i.e. the Man and the Woman, both an essential part of the kitchenmakeover decision making process. You see sometimes we don’t always spend 1, 2 or 6 months deciding on whether weshould or should not have a kitchen. No 80 times out of a hundred it is a snap decision. That is why when you decide on a new kitchen refit, or new kitchen design, it is OK thatit starts with a snap decision, but it is vitally important that you take the time to think outthe whole process and consequences of the decision of Kitchen or bedroom remodellingvery, very carefully. It can all start off with great ideas and beautiful imaginative thoughts, but if you are notcareful it can all fall down around you, and it sometimes can leave people in a verystressful state. At Kitchenfitters.ie, through our articles in this section we would hope to make youaware of the major decisions that you have to make, decisions on how to structure your new project, and how to remove a lot of that stress that comes with any home renovation project. So we hope that you read through all the articles and take something from them – thatmay be helpful to you in your great kitchen or bedroom makeover adventure.Adventure – now there’s a great word – it should be an adventure or a journey that a person, couple or family take, the reason being you are investing in your home. And byinvesting in your home you want to achieve something that you can enjoy, for the nextnumber of years, because of its beauty, quality, comfort, etc., etc.I tell people time and again. Yes I understand that you have a budget, and you need to getvalue for money. But what you the customer must realise that out there in the commercialworld there are lots of people with lots of DIFFERING STANDARDS.Take for instance, cheaper does not necessarily mean you are getting value for money, thesame goes that dearer does not mean that you are getting something superior. Apart fromthe product(s) that you may be buying, there is also the QUALITY OF SERVICE thatmust be brought into the equation.

What you must evaluate in the overall light of things is WHAT you are getting.Example: If you see a kitchen advertised for €2,499.00 in the newspaper or televisionadverts. You surely cannot believe that you are going to get this kitchen at this price, delivered & installed with all the bells and whistles. NOT A CHANCE! This one is onethat you buy flat pack and put it on your back and carry it home yourself. Oh by the wayalso add in a price for a kitchen sink, kitchen tap, handles, hinges, extractor, etc., etc., Icould go on an on! Value for money comes in a lot of different ways. Here are Some Questions to ask Yourself For instance if you are a working person/parent you must consider, how much of myvaluable time have I to invest in this project. After all the more of your time you invest – from a man-hours situation – may mean that you are losing earnings at the coal face? How stress free can I make this project, which in turn allows me to get on with my life?If I need extra tradespeople like plumbers, electricians, gas installers, tilers, carpenters, plasterers. How long will it take me to get a team together to carry out my project. Andfurthermore how long will it take me to follow up on their references to ensure their standards of workmanship and service are what I require? What if tradesmen don’t turn up when they are supposed to. And by not turning up other tradesmen cannot continue with their part in the project? How much will that cost me?How long will I be ringing people to come back and finish off the little things? How much will that cost me?How long will this project take? And what will that cost me?What if I employed a Project Manager to run the whole operation? How much would that cost me?These questions may seem not too important at the moment but be assured that thefurther into your project that you go the more relevant they will become.Look at it like this a full kitchen makeover (after all necessary planning and off siteworks are carried out) in a standard 3-bed semi-detached home in Dublin should takeabout 3-6 working days depending on the complexity of the job and of course depending

on the expertise of the company you use.Maybe ask yourself this Question? What if I employ a company that can bring the project manager, tiler, plumber, plasterer, electrician, gas man, kitchenfitters, waste removal etc?How much would that cost me? Or How much will that save me?Remember the saying “You Pay for What You Get”. Well, when you can employ acompany that can bring all the necessary tradespeople, materials, project manager, etc., tocarry out a project as big as a kitchen makeover, and complete the job in 5-6 workingdays. Forget about the monetary costs because in the long run you will realise that youhave got REAL VALUE for money, and you will of course have made monetary savings. Not to mention NO STRESS, NO IN HOUSE ARGUING, get the picture.I have known people who told me that my company was too dear. I said fine the choice isyours and there is no hard feelings. I have also know these people come back to me withtheir experiences at a later date:• the job took 5 weeks and we are still waiting for the so and so to be finished!• the fellow we got never finished the drawerfronts properly!• the kitchen is only in 3 months and the handles are falling off!I could go on and on, but I won’t.
