The GLBT Funding Opt-Out Bill
“A bill requesting that students who object to funding the GLBT Resource Center through their  student fees and tuition for religious reasons be allowed to opt out from funding same.”
: Texas A&M University is a public institution, and as such, has an obligation tospend students’ money in ways that reflect the values of the students who pay thatmoney; and,
: Many students disagree with the use of student fee and tuition money to pay for aGay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered (GLBT) Resource Center for religious reasons; and,
: While it can be argued that the GLBT Resource Center is a worthy use of funds inorder to provide a welcoming environment for vulnerable populations at TexasA&M, it is reasonable for students to object to a use of their own money that is indirect opposition to their own religious values; and,
: Students should be informed as well as possible about how their money is used.
