Welcome to the newest addition to the Cougar Bait website, Star Power. Star Power is intended to give players and fans a mathematical breakdown of the strengths and weaknesses of every Baiter on the roster, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball heading into each and every new season of play. of the game we all love. In terms of Offensive output, the categories included for the Star Power rating system break down strategically into Batting Average, On Base Percentage, Slugging Percentage, On Base+Slugging Percentage, Homerun Power, Additional Extra Base Power (3B/2B), Total Hits, Run Production, Runs Scored, Walks, Speed, Base Running, and Contact. On the Defensive end, players are judged according to their relative levels of Versatility, Speed (depending on position), Arm Strength, Glove/Hands, Accuracy, Range, and Overall Decision Making. A third category is included for all qualified Pitchers which includes Players are judged in relation to others on the team according to a points system for virtually every facet
Control/Command, Strikeout Ability, Limitations of Walks, and Total Defense on the Mound (Double Play Ability, Accuracy, Decision Making, Leadership) All categories are rated on a 1-10 star scale, 10 being the highest denomination. All players will receive different points for every category according to their skill set. Heading into the 2013 season all players will be rated according to the average offensive and defensive output of the 2012 roster. Here are the average stats of all 11 starters from 2012
