A red and white Mrior a symbol of spring, love, new beginning, hopes.

. In Moldova people wear Marior when spring comes and during the first ten days of March, there are many concerts, musicals and entertainment to celebrate spring. As a token of love, friendship and greeting, people give and wear small red and white flowers, mostly a handmade decoration, signify an age-old legends of Mrior. People wear the Mrior emblem until the last day of March when they hang it on a tree limb to assure a good harvest and they make a wish that becomes true afterwards. The legend says: Spring came with warm days, melting snow and new flowers. The first snowdrop appeared from under the snow. But winter was severe. It didn`t want to leave. It attacked the gentle snowdrop with heavy snowflakes and chilly winds. The good Fairy fought winter and a drop of her blood fell on the sweet flower. Some petals became red. The red-and-white snowdrop smiled at the Fairy and at the sun. Winter gave up. That`s why people wear red-and-white Mrioare when spring comes. Since then Mrior became the symbol of spring.
