So-Called Christians and Guns

By Elton Camp If folks want to use guns, its fine with me From invoking the name of Jesus keep it free It was for an earthly kingdom the Jews fought Freedom from that Law, the Christ bought The Prince of Peace he came here to be From need for weapons set believers free After the completion of Jesus ransom sacrifice Planning in advance to kill became no dice The advice given to the Christian brother: If slapped on one cheek, then turn the other A slap is an insult, not an attempt to slay To protect self and family is the right way But notice that Jesus Christ didnt say Try to rob me and Ill blow you away So to keep a gun with a plan to kill Should give real Christians a chill Those who trumpet how righteous they are Yet delight in how theyd kill, go too far

Hold it like this, aim and shoot for his head

Would Jesus endorse such an idea?
(Christians have the right and obligation to defend self and family from murder, but to plan to kill for lesser reasons and to take fiendish delight in it is just wrong. Yet, that view is exactly what is so often advocated.)
