Investigating UFOs is hard work and not everyone is cut out for the job.It takes time away from family and other life pursuits usually at one’s ownexpense. Some cases can take weeks or even months to investigate dependingon the complexity and nature of theevent. There is no place for armchair investigation when it comes to uncover-ing the facts behind a UFO sighting, butrequires boots on the ground willing tospend the time necessary to rule out themundane in the search for the un-known. Oftentimes it is the IFOdisposition that results from suchtenacious work and to be frank, wewouldn’t want it any other way, as onlyrumor and innuendo and hurried conclusions result from improper investigative technique. In today’sinformation overloaded world, peoplewant answers and they want them fast, but when it comes to proper investiga-tion, there are no shortcuts to the truth.Case in point is Stephenville, Texas,the cover storyfor this month’s

Whenthe media frenzykicked into highgear, MUFONTexas StateDirector KenCherry and Chief Investigator SteveHudgeons found themselves in theinternationalspotlight with the entire world demand-ing to know what was flying over ErathCounty. Rather than try and appease thecurious with hurried explanations or conclusions, they appealed to reasonand asked the world to be patient untilthe investigation was complete. Al-though the media coverage was greatfor UFO public awareness, it madeconducting even basic witness inter-views a complex task of weeding out
