EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH POSITION:

COLLEGE ADVISOR AIDE

Accepting applications with interviews scheduled for early July; multiple positions available. Training Dates: August 19 23, 2013 Start Date: School placement first or second week in September RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES College Advisor Aides will spend 20 hours a week in an assigned local high school assisting students with college admission and financial aid applications. Maintain files and records on 120+ project participants documenting services provided, student progress and outcomes. Conduct financial aid and college application workshops. Arrange logistics for field trips and workshops. Attend mandatory periodic meetings, training seminars and other events related to stated duties. QUALIFICATIONS Completion of minimum two years of college with good academic standing. Experience working with high school age students from low-income, disadvantaged backgrounds and prior experience providing college and financial aid information desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Dress neatly and be wellgroomed. Must have own transportation, a valid California Drivers License and car insurance. Must be reliable and punctual. DAYS/HOURS Minimum of three days a week, preferably between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for a total of twenty weekly hours. SALARY $ 10.00 - $12.00 depending on experience and grade level. Program Assistant

Accepting applications with interviews scheduled for early July; three positions available. Training Dates: August 19 23, 2013 Start Date: School placement first or second week in September RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Assist the Program Coordinator or Assistant Director in supervising the College Advisor Aides placed at designated school sites. Provide workshops on financial aid, college applications, college options and study skills. Assist in providing training information at staff meetings and training sessions. Review participant files at school sites for services provided. Provide program services to insure adequate information is rendered to each participant. Services include tutoring, study skills techniques, career awareness, college and financial aid advisement, college entrance examination information, college and financial application assistance. Attend mandatory periodic meetings, training seminars and other events related to stated duties. DAYS/HOURS Minimum of three days a week, preferably between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for a total of twenty weekly hours. QUALIFICATIONS Graduate student in a counseling or higher education related program. Experience working with high school age students from low-income, disadvantaged backgrounds desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Dress neatly and be well-groomed. Must have own transportation, a valid California Drivers License and car insurance. Must be reliable and punctual. Knowledge of higher education college systems and financial aid programs and experience in providing workshops and working in group settings.
