These resolutions are often as short-lived as they are ambitious. While the ambition is laudable, I find that basic changes are easier to stick with, and often just as effective at creating positive outcomes. In the case of your skin, you can slow thesigns of aging, restore a youthful appearance and repair damage by adopting these three simple skin care habits.Get back to the basics with your skin care routine.Many of my clients are surprised by how much emphasis I place on routine skin care. With all the advanced procedures I offer, why harp on something as simple asmoisturizer? Easy answer: The right skin care routine, followed daily, maximizes the results of more advanced procedures and keeps you looking your best all year long. (I see this as protecting your investment in yourself!) And, while I may see my clients a handful of days per year, the use of the right skin care products is like having a mini-appointment with me every single day.I'm especially in favor of cosmeceuticals. These are biologically-active products with pharmaceutical-grade ingredients that activate DNA repair, stimulate collagen and elastic tissue growth, and contain antioxidant properties – protecting your skin from inflammation-producing free radicals. While the exact details of any routine will vary based on age and lifestyle, I recommend all of my clients use products that contain both pore-clearing Retinol and topical vitamin C which promotes collagen regeneration.Make sure to protect, protect, protect.Sunscreen is the most vital part of any basic skin care routine. Every single one of us needs to use sunscreen, and use it all year long. Not just any sunscreenwill do, either.
