One Region documents how racial demographics affect the resources and opportunities available in communities across the New York City metropolitan region. Across the 30 counties surveyed, communities of color have lower incomes, higher rates of foreclosure, and fewer vital services and resources such as hospitals, good schools and banks than communities that are largely White. At a time when people of color will soon be in the majority, this poses dire challenges for the economic and social well-being of the region as a whole.
