Foreword

Dear Members,

We are please to present the fourth edition of the ICI Activity Reportpublication, this time referring to the year 2007. As by tradition, this publication is issued on an annual basis and it presentssummary of most important activities undertaken by the Council within aperiod of one year. This report also includes relevant information on ICIsprojects and partnerships as well as on ICIs internal structure and itsmembers.The year, 2007 marked a milestone for the International Council of Investors,since it was the fifth anniversary from its inception.During this period, all ICI members have worked hard and with persistence inorder to achieve the aims that were set by the Council and we are now verysatisfied with the results.The International Council of Investors has been for four years now the officialassociation of the country in the OECD network for SE Europe. It closely co-operates with all the international organizations active in the country (EUDelegation, World Bank, IMF, BAC/SECI, UN missions) and is a member of the Vienna Economic Forum. ICI took active participation in the RegulatoryGuillotine Project as the representative of the foreign investors.Furthermore, ICI is invited and participates in all the economic forums of Europe, promoting the country as a destination for foreign investments. ICIhas a continuous presence in the major international media, it participates inthe official dialogue with the government as regards foreign investments.ICI's latest White Book, published fourth year in a row, is a collection of theviews and opinions of the foreign investors on the investment climate and themacroeconomic fundamentals as well as of suggestions for theirimprovement. All of the above are included, among others, in our websiteand are accessible by all.The improvement of the business environment remains our target for thenear future.Thanks to the noteworthy contribution of all the members of the Council, theICI’s activities have been recognized by the domestic and internationalbusiness community, international organizations and Government authorities,resulting in establishment of strong partnership with all the subjects involvedin the investment climate improvement process both in the country and in theregion.
