This is not necessarily a book about hobbies. This is a book how to turn your hobby into income. Why a book about turning your hobby into income? Verysimple, with the uncertainty of today’s economic picture I wanted to write a bookthat shows people how to turn there ideas into a business that puts food on thetable and maybe even a new Mercedes in the driveway. My objective here is not to delve into specifics too greatly, such as cash-flowmanagement, accounting, marketing, taxes, or writing a business plan, and Idon’t go into a great deal of specifics about starting and running any particular business, although I will touch on these subjects lightly. My intention is to get youto think in new ways about the possibility of owning your own business. To giveyou new ideas you may not have thought of, ideas that are outside of thetraditional small business realm, such as “I love flower arranging, so I’ll open up aflower shop”.I also provide you with some excellent resources for getting additionalinformation on a particular hobby you’re interested in making a career out of.There’s a list of Internet links and the end of the book that will open you up to anentirely new world. Everything from where to get the money you need to start, towhere to have DVD’s, books, and even CD’s printed on demand – therebylowering your up front cost for many of the ideas I present here.By my estimation there are literally hundreds of potential hobbies that peopleinvolve themselves in. This book will focus in on 50 of what I have determinedare some of the most common hobbies people engage in and I cover a greatdeal more hobbies and ideas on the Member’s Resource Center. I wanted toprovide people with two or three ideas for each hobby. Some of the ideas areuniversal, such as becoming an “expert” in a particular area and writing a bookon the matter. Others are not so obvious.I’m limiting the book to these specific hobbies because if I tried to address everysingle hobby in the world, the book would be 10,000 pages long and no onewould read it! I also do not address hobbies that some would consider to beimmoral or illegal because I want this book to be available to everyone. If wrotea book entitled “Hacking Government Computer Systems For Fun and Profit”, Imight get a visit by the FBI and, frankly, I don’t have the time for that.1
