“There had better be a good reason for them calling me in on a Sunday.”“Don’t worry Ben; I’m sure they have their reasons.” Said Alex,“Although I don’t know why they involved me.” Charlie sighed.“Ben you’re here because the suspect a bio weapon played a part in his death, Alex is here because there have been reports of cannibalistic locals and I’m coming to confirm cause of death for the government.”“Look on the bright side,” said Alex“The company are sending us on a private jet and picking us up on a military gradehelicopter.”“Flight 375 departing in 30 minutes. All passengers report for final boarding at gate 3.”“That’s our flight, we should get going.”The runway was poorly maintained and had no other flight plans for the month. The islandhad trees everywhere and was littered with small mud huts. It was around half a mile wideand a mile long. The only sign of civilisation was a cement path with an electric fencetopped with barbed wire. The path led to a small group of buildings and in the middle was aradio broadcaster. The area outside the perimeter was wild and overgrown with tall treesand dense plants, and the sound of animals just beyond the barrier.“Wow this place is a dump” said Ben, looking around at the partially destroyed airport.“Well there’s no reason to keep it maintained it gets one flight a month and is scheduled for demolition in three months.”“How did you know that?” Charlie asked Alex.“It was stated in the mission file, the airport is to be demolished and the base relocated tothe mainland, you did read the file, didn’t you?”“He read his file on the basic description of the body’s condition and the crime scene, likemine was about suspected bio agents, emergency procedures and containment.” Then asudden high pitched noise pierced the air, resignating from the base.“What was that?” asked Charlie, suddenly weary of his surroundings.“It came from the base” said Alex.“Well let’s go then; the sooner I get of this island with the sample the more I get paid”“what’s this sample Ben? You didn’t mention this before.”“Just the sample of whatever killed the victim, that’s all Alex, and shouldn’t we goinvestigate that noise?” The sound is heard again, but was cut of suddenly. The team headto the village as the island is suddenly silent.At the base conditions are a lot worse then at the airport, and a lot more worrying. Thevillage was deserted and there was a trail of red leading deeper into the base. Lookingaround the group could see there had been a massive fight. The walls were covered in blood and the walls were riddled with bullet holes. Several buildings were completelydestroyed and the rest were damaged beyond most recognition. The gravel paths weresoaked in blood and there ware blood stained tools spread around the town. Alex startedlooking in the remaining buildings while Ben headed to the location of the primary murder.Then Alex called out.

“Hey looks what I found.” The other two rushed to the abandoned church to see what itwas. On their arrival they saw what Alex had been talking about. On a table was a pile of flesh and organs with a sword that had been run through it and next to it laid a bloodstained chainsaw.“Looks like there was some sort of sacrifice here” said Charlie.“You think it was the locals? Maybe it was their reaction to how that victim died” Benlooked at Charlie, then Alex for a response then Alex responded“How are we meant to stop cannibalistic locals on a killing spree when we are unarmed andthey use chainsaws and swords and who knows what else. They might have found somefirearms even.” Ben responded with absolute certainty“There are no firearms on this island, it was deemed as too much of a security risk.Charley responded sarcastically“Oh of course a gun is to dangerous, we might hurt the locals while there chopping us upwith a chainsaw and eating us! So what do we do now Ben?”“We need to head back to the landing strip.” They started along the path back to theheliport, when a local comes out of the blue and attacks Charlie. The other two try to get itoff him, but as they do it bites Charlie’s hand. The local falls to the floor and is put on thereceiving end of Alex’s hunting knife. They get back to the landing strip and Ben startsanalysing what caused this erratic behaviour.“I know why this is happening!” Ben declared successfully.“The locals are dead, or at lead most of them are.”“Yeah, that would explain the blood but there were no corpses.” Alex said“The corpses have been reanimated by a bioengineered virus.” Ben stated. Charlie lookedat Ben in shock.“You mean they’re zombies?” Ben laughed.“Also known as the living impaired.””So… Zombies that eat you, and can only be killed with a blow to the head. That sort of zombie. Ben looked at Alex, to confirm he wasn’t using sarcasm.“Yes the head is the primary target, but if you do enough damage the body could collapse.”Ben ran to the beach, most likely to relieve himself of his lunch, when he saw a terrifyingscene. He sent very pale and started to back towards the landing strip. Ben broke into asprint. When Charlie got back to the group, he had to stood gasping his breath back, tryingto say what scared him so bad, and pointing in the direction he came from.Alex and Ben went to investigate the beach, but Charlie was too panicked to return. At the beach the overwhelming stench of rotting flesh made them gag, as they looked into theocean. The water was red with blood, and there were animal bodies floating on the surface.“The most probable explanation was they broke out of containment,” Ben pointed towardsthe broken fence. He continued“They ran away from the zombies and into the water.” There was a growing, that turnedinto an inhuman howl, and on turning around, they saw a pack of zombies, running towardthem. The group then ran through the zombie horde and to the radio tower, and lockedthemselves in. Ben started looking for items that he could us to barricade the entrance, andnoticed Charlie was shaking violently. When he asked what was wrong Charlie replied
