Did you know that Bill Gates is the richest man in the world? Did you know thatBill Gate’s Company helped to make the XBOX one of the best T.V. game players? Billhas achieved many great things throughout his life.. As an adult he has done much to helpothers and positively impact our society. He plans on giving ninety eight percent of hiswealth away mostly to health and education issues. He is a private man, who has a fewgreat friends. It is not always that easy being the richest man in the world. Some peoplewant to think the worst of Bill Gates, so some even threaten him and his company.Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. He has twosisters, one older and one younger. Bill Gates is the third Bill Gates. He is left-handedand his nickname as a boy was Trey because he was the third Bill Gates. As a youngchild Bill spent most of his time alone thinking about things. Up until six grade he hadlacked focus, which reflected on his grades. At the age of eight he started readingEncyclopedias. Bill Gates fell in love with computers at the age of thirteen and programmed one at the age of thirteen. Bill is the only boy in his family besides hisfather. As a kid his hobbies were roller-skating, tennis, and skiing on snow and water.At the age of twelve Bill was sent to Lakeside, a private school. There he and someclassmates, including Paul Allen, started a programmers club for computer people. In his junior year at Lakeside, Bill and Paul Allen were asked to write a program for scheduledclasses. In high school Bill, and Paul started a company call Traf-o-Data (small computer 
 
used to measure traffic flow) they made 20,000 before the company went out of business.When he graduated from Lakeside, Bill went on to Harvard University. While at Harvard,Bill wanted to become a lawyer or a mathematician. While at Harvard, Bill developed aversion of programming language B.A.S.I.C for the first microcomputer. Bill and PaulAllen got a job at Honeywell the summer after their first year of college. The next year Allen bought an Altair 8080 magazine titled first microcomputer kit. Paul and Bill told themicrocomputer company (MITS) that they had written a BASIC code that could be usedon Altair (it was a lie). They worked hard for eight weeks and developed a code. MITS bought the rights to the BASIC within the year Bill and Paul dropped out of school andMicrosoft was born.Bill is the richest man in the world with about forty-six to forty-eight billiondollars. To put that in perspective say that you earn one thousand a day; it would take2,740 years to become a billionaire! Bill achieved the status of being a billionaire at theyoung age of thirty-one. Bill’s company, Microsoft, is the most successful company inhistory earning twenty-eight billion last year.On March 20, 1993, Bill Gates proposed to Melinda French. The announcement of Bill and Melinda’s engagement went in news headlines over the whole world. Bill andMelinda got married on January 1, 1994. They have had three kids. The first one was bornon April 26, 1996. On May 23, 1999, their second child was born and recently they hadtheir third child. In 1987, Bill’s grandmother died. Later in 1994, his mother died of breastcancer. His mother’s death inspired Bill to donate money to Swedish Hospital for thestudy of pain management for cancer patients.
