COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will focus on improving their listening and speaking skills through an interactive and participatoryapproach. This course will be enriched with a variety of media to listen to authentic English and speak in anextemporaneous manner. Music, You Tube videos, Podcasts and other media will enhance the learningexperience.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of 2 sessions, students will comfortably and appropriately:
Hold spontaneous conversations on basic and everyday topics (e.g. – weather, sports, health, currentevents, etc)
Develop and creatively use their English lexicon
Listen to various types of English media and be able to relate the main idea
Lead a class discussion, ensuring participation of all members
Maintain a balance between accuracy and fluency in speaking skills
EVALUATION
Students will be evaluated based on the 5 areas listed below. Every week, a class member will beresponsible for leading a class discussion. Students will also keep a tally of participation points, which willcontribute to their final mark. A self-assessment will be conducted at the beginning and end of the course.Finally, there will be 2 exams held at the end of each session. The evaluation will be divided as follows:Group Discussion Project: 20%Participation Points: 20%Self-Assessment: 10%Midterm Exam: 25%Final Exam: 25%
