This is very good advice, albeit dated. I went into Tools> Track Synchronization > Synchronization Tab. Every thing one needs is there. If the tracks are far off, go to where the speech is and take the time. When you arrive at the text, take the time again. Subtracted the higher number from the lower number and + or - as needed. Something like that anyway... - bri <3

default hotkeys are 'h' and 'g' in vlc0.9.8a. Thanks for the tip!
