Chapter 1
 The letter was scrawled so big andred, Jamee wondered if Mrs. Guessner had any ink left in her pen after she hadmade it. The grade covered up the first threequestions on the algebra test. The words“See me” covered up two more wronganswers. At the bottom, a long red line was scratched on the paper with the words “Parent’s signatureprinted beneath it. Jamee crumpled the test into her fist. Mrs. Guessner was at the front of the room going over the answers, but  Jamee was too mad to listen.
Stupid, stupid, stupid
