pa khabar? Ready for anothermonth of things to do, places tosee and people to meet? Let‘Sabah Malaysian Borneo’ give you anidea or two. I have always beenfascinated with the innovative charm ofour Sabahan people – who wouldimagine making a musical instrumentout of wild-growing bamboo or jackfruitwood to carve a lute (known as the‘gambus’)? That’s why the BambooMusic Festival (p.3) is my top pick forthis month’s Happenings & Highlights.I’ll be making my way to Tamparuli to join the residents as they show off theirmusical skill playing instruments madeof bamboo. I have heard the KinabaluBamboo Orchestra perform severaltimes and I must say, listening to ‘BlackMagic Woman’ played on the sompotonis something else! There will be amyriad of activities to witness and enjoyduring the festival as well. Read moreabout it in our Happenings & Highlightssection.Want to know more about ethnicwedding cultures and customs? Thenhead over to Monsopiad CulturalVillage every Saturday this month toexperience the Traditional MockWedding Display (p.3). Interested inmore adrenaline-charged events? Thenthe 8th Borneo Tens and 1st BorneoWomen’s 7’s in Sandakan is up youralley (p.4). Check our Calendar ofEvents for a more detailed listing ofwhat’s happening in Sabah this month. This month’s feature highlights SabahAirAviation – a mind-blowing experiencethat takes you the skies for abreathtaking view of Sabah and all itswonders! (p.10). SabahAir has a list ofinteresting tour packages at affordablerates and even caters to specialrequests. Seeing that it’s November, itmight be a wise idea to avoid theChristmas rush and start shopping now!Let Kadaiku offer you some great giftideas (p.15), from plush toys to simplySabahan goodies.I hope your stay in Sabah MalaysianBorneo will be truly memorable.
