Early Work and Construction Activities

Beginning the week of April 1, SDOT will begin early work for seawall construction on and adjacent to Alaskan Way between Virginia and Pike streets. The most signicant work is anticipated to occur for eight weeks, and will end prior to Memorial Day weekend. During construction planning, these early work activities became critical to get underway as soon as possible. This early work will help ensure that seawall construction this fall is as efcient as possible, and to keep the rest of necessary construction activities on schedule, thus minimizing impacts. Completing this early work is necessary to: Gather information regarding subsurface conditions to inform nal design and construction plans. Construct a portion of the temporary roadway in the north end of the project area. Ensure the most signicant impacts of construction are conned to a single construction season.
