 The Five solas are five Latin phrases (or slogans) that emergedduring the Protestant Reformation and summarize theReformers' basic theological beliefs in contradistinction to theteaching of the Roman Catholic Church of the day. The Latinword sola means "alone" or "only" in English. The five solasarticulated five fundamental beliefs of the ProtestantReformation, pillars which the Reformers believed to beessentials of the Christian life and practice.
