Long-term exposure to magnetic fields and the risks of Alzheimer's disease and breast cancer: Further biological research
Subject: Alz and breast cancer...long-term EMF exposure....Sobel/Davanipour 2009 Even though the new study cited below is regarding occupational exposures, theinformation is very relevant when considering close, bedroom exposures (see mywebsite -- access below sign-off).I have the complete study which mentions seamstresses. I have not had time toreview the study in its entirety. The study has important diagrams. My website has University of Minnesota Necropsy Report re my guinea pig,Kelley, who was exposed for a couple of weeks to the electric meter on theoutside of our back bedroom wall:

Long-term exposure to magnetic fields and the risks of Alzheimer's diseaseand breast cancer: Further biological research.
Davanipour Z, Sobel E.Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, IL, United States. Objective: Extremely low frequency (ELF) and radio frequency (RF) magneticfields (MFs) pervade our environment. Whether or not these magnetic fields areassociated with increased risk of serious diseases, e.g., cancers and Alzheimer'sdisease, is thus important when developing a rational public policy. TheBioinitiative Report was an effort by internationally recognized scientists who havespent significant time investigating the biological consequences of exposures tothese magnetic fields to address this question. Our objective was to provide anunbiased review of the current knowledge and to provide our general and specificconclusions. Results: The evidence indicates that long-term significantoccupational exposure to ELF MF may certainly increase the risk of bothAlzheimer's disease and breast cancer. There is now evidence that two relevantbiological processes (increased production of amyloid beta and decreasedproduction of melatonin) are influenced by high long-term ELF MF exposure thatmay lead to Alzheimer's disease. There is further evidence that one of thesebiological processes (decreased melatonin production) may also lead to breastcancer. Finally, there is evidence that exposures to RF MF and ELF MF havesimilar biological consequences. Conclusion: It is important to mitigate ELF and

RF MF exposures through equipment design changes and environmentalplacement of electrical equipment, e.g., AC/DC transformers. Further researchrelated to these proposed and other biological processes is required.
