Greetings of solidarity and peace!Firstly, we would like to congratulate your Student Council for a year of unfaltering commitment towards studentrepresentation and active leadership. Allow us also to extend our salute to the newly-elected student-leaders coming from yourrespective colleges and units. Our term may have been filled with so many challenges but it is worth noting that we have alsoemerged triumphant in numerous campaigns and in forwarding our advocacies; mainstreaming issues and concerns which havelong fallen on deaf ears. It is incumbent upon us now to continue these victories, gather lessons from past experiences, andmove on with hopes of providing better service to the studentry and to the people.During the last academic year, we have been faced with so many issues involving the socialized tuition scheme and feeincreases, gender discrimination and harassment, calamities and environmental degradation, repressive institutional policies, campus insecurity and militarization, and cases of human rights violations among others. These issues, as we see them, havecontinued to haunt us for a long period of time now. Despite our many efforts at initiating change in the spheres of ourinfluence, many of these problems remain unresolved if not worsened. As we enter another academic year, another term in our respective offices, it is crucial for us student-leaders to finally take adrastic step towards advancing our rights not just as students but as citizens who hunger for genuine social change. It is hightime that we unite these struggles and find common solutions which will definitely bring us to better plans and greatersuccesses.
