Taking it one Room at a Time
 A thorough spring cleaning can take awhile, but you will feel fantastically free when youfinish. Break up this detailed spring cleaning checklist and clean one room a day.Gather together cleaning supplies in a plastic bucket with a handle so it is easy totransport them from room to room as you work toward a
 fresh spring start 
.
 What You Will Need
Sturdy bins for “dry-clean”, “donate”, “sell”, “recycle”, and a bag for “trash”
 A pad of medium-sized sticky notes to label your bins
Masking tape to seal boxes or bags, mend tears, and secure notes to the bags or boxes
Gallon-sized Ziploc bags to store single items and small items
Label maker
 A waterproof marker
Plastic storage bins of all sizes
Zippered canvas bags for garments, comforters, and linens
Bubble wrap, cedar blocks, desiccants, and acid-free tissue
 Vacuum
Mop
Broom
Duster

Squeegee

Spring Cleaning and Organizing
Kitchen
Defrost the freezer and clean it’s interior. 
Turn off the power at the circuit breakeror fuse box. Empty freezer’s contents. Discard items past their prime and store food in acooler with ice packs. Wipe down the freezer interior with a solution of 2 tablespoons baking soda per 1 quart hot water to deodorize and clean thoroughly. Replace food itemsand your baking soda container in the freezer.
Clean the refrigerator.
Turn off the power at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Cleancoils with the crevice vacuum attachment. Remove food, discard expired items, wipedown drips or messes and place items in a collar with ice packs. Wipe down the interior with a solution of 2 tablespoons baking soda per 1 quart hot water to deodorize and cleanthoroughly. Replace food items and baking soda container in the refrigerator.
Organize and wipe down your pantry.
Work shelf by shelf to consolidate, donate,and throw away expired items.
Organize and wipe down cabinets.
Shelf by shelf, donate items you no longer use,discard broken items, and reshelf all others.
Organize and wipe down drawers.
Drawer by drawer, donate items you no longeruse, discard broken items, and put back all others.
 Wipe down small counter appliances
with a damp Miracle cloth.
 Wipe down counters and backsplashes
 with a soft sponge.
 Wipe down sink and flush drain with boiling water.
Clean the microwave. 
 After you wipe down the counters, rinse your sponge and placeit in the microwave. Press start and “cook” for 1 minute. In addition to disinfecting yoursponge, the steam from the wet sponge helps loosen dirt in your microwave. After,remove sponge and wipe down the interior with a damp Miracle cloth.
Clean stovetop ventilation hood and filter. 
 Wipe hood with a damp Miracle cloth.Soak filter on hot water with a dash of dishwashing liquid. Brush gently with a plastic brush to prevent scratching and to dislodge greasy particles. Rinse in hot water and dry thoroughly before replacing.
Clean oven interior and racks. 
Check your owner manual for cleaning instructions.
Clean stove top range. 
Check your owner manual for cleaning instructions.
Polish stainless steel appliances.
Dust down walls and fixtures. 
Don’t forget airvents, sconces, light switches, doormoldings, and doorknobs (vacuum floor airvents.)
Take down window treatments.
Wipe down slat blinds and send curtains anddraperies to the dry cleaners. Re-hang slat blinds and summer window treatments.Lightly steam in place if drapes have any wrinkles. Roll clean material around acid-freetubes, then wrap with a clean sheet of cotton muslin, secure with tape and label each bundle.

lean windows inside and out.
 With a brush attachment, vacuum the sill, themolding, and windowpanes. If dirt lingers, wipe clean with a damp Miracle cloth. Wash windows inside and out with a 10 to 1 white vinegar water dilution; dry with a squeegeeand follow with a dry cloth.
Polish metal door and window hardware.
 Wipe baseboards and moldings 
 with a damp Miracle cloth.
 Wipe out and disinfect trash and recycling receptacles.

Clean flooring.
Move appliances and vacuum and mop all hardwood, tile, and vinyl,floor surfaces with a ¼ C vinegar and 1 gallon of water mixture. Wax vinyl and linoleumfloors with a polish designed for these surfaces. Re-seal stone and tile floors a paste or aliquid wax designed for these flooring materials.

Dining Room
 Wipe ceiling fan with a Miracle cloth
.(Take care that dust doesn’t fall on otherclean furniture.)
Clean dining table, chairs, and other furniture
thoroughly. Wipe down each piece with a damp Miracle cloth and dry with a rag. Apply wax to surfaces a few feet at a time with a folded cotton rag. Let wax dry to a hazy finish and then buff to shine with a cleancloth. Repair felt foot pads on the bottom of chair and table legs and spot cleanupholstered seats.

Switch out seasonal dining and décor items
 like table linens, vases, and homedécor. Store away winter items neatly bubble wrapped in labeled plastic bins.
Bathrooms
Discard expired medications
 (both prescription and over-the-counter.) Ask yourpharmacist about how to dispose of them properly.
Discard expired cosmetics and beauty products.
Secure these items in a plastictrash bag, and keep it out of reach of children and animals. You can also give away cosmetics and other personal-care items you've never used to invited friends at a beauty swap party. Ask everyone to bring their unused items (the wrong color lipstick, perfumesamples.)
