Description
Thesis. There’s an English language communion consisting of people who can use personal English languages, or idiolects. As time goes on, these languages change in each person. During the course of a lifetime, a member of the English language communion will use many idiolects which, as time goes on, differ from one another in some ways, yet also remain the same in some ways. Each member at any one time will have an idiolect different from that of any other member. Yet all the idiolects in the English language communion will have some features in common at any one time, although the features they have in common change as time goes on. The English language at any one time consists of all functioning idiolects at that time.
The number of people in the English language communion varies in time. New people become members of this communion when they begin to acquire a personal English idiolect. People leave the communion if they have certain maladies or injuries, and when they die.
