Dear ____________________________,I request that my child, _________________________________, be withheldfrom the upcoming Oklahoma Core Curriculum Test for 7th grade Geography, which has been
specifically designated as a “field test” by the State De
partmentof Education. It is my understanding that my child will not receive scores for thetest and that the teacher and school are not accountable in any way for theresults of this assessment. My child is subjected to an excessive numbers of state standardized state testsevery year. It is unacceptable that even more valuable classroom time beallocated to this field test. Furthermore, I object to my child being used as anunpaid subject by CTB-McGraw Hill and the State Education Department, who areessentially making my child a research subject for a for-profit corporation withoutmy consent or permission. It is my understanding that there will be no negative consequences for the schoolif children do not take these field tests. I would respectfully request that theschool not give the test at all, and that all students benefit from a day of instruction rather than waste yet another day on testing. If, however, the schooldoes give the test, I expect that my child be allowed to attend regular classesduring this time or provided an appropriate alternative activity of greatereducational value.Sincerely ____________________________________________________
