North East CARE Fair 2008
 This event showcased the many supportprogrammes or children and youth that areoered by the Family Service Centres (FSCs), Voluntary Welare Organisations (VWOs) andother social service providers. More than 20organisations took part in this air to amiliarizeresidents with the various social assistanceschemes and services available or youthand children.
Talking Dollars and Sense
 Talking Dollars and Sense is a nancialbudgeting programme that reaches out toresidents in nancial diculty. The programmeaims to help educate residents about the valueo money and guide them towards a betternancial position. Conducted by volunteers, itis ree or participants and available in English,Mandarin and Malay. Since its introductionin April 2004 more than 570 amilies havebenetted rom the programme. 
Launch of North East Lunch Box Fund
 To lessen the burden o nancially-strappedamilies, the NE Lunch Box Fund ensures thatneedy students will have pocket money topurchase their lunch. North East CDC togetherwith the sponsor Neptune Orient Lines (NOL)has set aside $50,000 or the und. With thehelp o Student Advisory Centre to administerthe und, 352 students rom 22 schools havebeen ensured a healthy, nutritious lunch dailythanks to the Lunch Box Fund.

Music and good memories rocked the stage.Back by popular demand, Rocking Good Times 2 proved to be a winning ormula tobond the community. Community leaders tookto the stage and residents joined in the singingand dancing provided by well-known localbands rom the 70s and 80s.
District Musical ‘Live it Up!’
Our senior residents took to the stage inthis musical extravaganza that eectivelyshowcased active ageing. The event was acreative platorm or seniors to pursue theirinterest in perorming arts. Judging rom thedelighted audience’s response, it was indeeda winning perormance.
North East Schools Go Green 2
Students displayed their innovative ideas orprotecting one o the most precious resourceswe have – the environment. Organised withthe National Environment Agency (NEA) andsponsored by Senoko Powers, this eventgave students the opportunity to infuence thecommunity to go green.
Dance Xplosion 3
Music, costumes and slick moves! Dance Xplosionblew the crowd away when 50 teams revealedtheir talents in a variety o dance categories. From‘Ethnic & Cultural’ to ‘Modern & Hip Hop’, Dance Xplosion 3 brought together young and old with alove or dance and music.
Celebrating A Cohesive Community 
Racial Harmony celebrations dazzled theneighbourhood in July this year. A relay marathonspanning three GRCs marked this year’s RacialHarmony Day on 5 July 2008. Running, cyclingand kayaking were just some o the modes themarathon encompassed. Racial Harmony Daywas also marked with spectacular events likestreet parades and carnivals at Aljunied GRC andHougang SMC, Tampines GRC andPasir Ris-Punggol GRC. To celebratethe day in a special way, a new recordwas entered in the Singapore Booko Records with a 500-stronghuman ormation o the word‘UNITY’ at Tampines GRC.
