To the Students of The University of Windsor Faculty of Law,

As some of you might already be aware, due to some recent complications, The OyeZ will no longer be

in print or circulation for the remainder of this academic year and likely indefinitely. Various rumours have sprung as to the events surrounding this circumstance, so I felt that I owed it to you, the student body to clarify what happened. Firstly, many of you are probably unclear as to what parts of the printed issues rose red flags for administration prompting the magazines removal. I feel strongly about the need to clarify the real reasons behind the collection of the magazine so that students can be aware of what to avoid. The first flag arose when it became apparent that the magazine, while seemingly a law school satire, was, in reality, soliciting banking information for a supposed Nigerian Prince begging for assistance into the country, and that his $10 000 promise was likely a fraud. The second problem presented itself when the administration caught onto the fact that the magazine was riddled with subliminal messages from Professor Wilson trying to plump the enrollment in Labour Law, which became evident when enrollment skyrocketed. Many students think that the magazine was collected in haste and shut down immediately by the administration, but this is another falsehood that I would like to address. The collection of the magazine was not, as believed, an immediate reaction to a red flag, truly, it was a quick decision to remedy the old fashioned water heater for the womens bathroom running out of kindling. In the end, the reality is that The OyeZ is a student run magazine for the students that has been a long standing tradition here at Windsor Law. Unfortunately, due to some administrative pressure and some hurdles that will take longer than a semester to overcome, as the editor of The OyeZ, I have decided to cease printing the magazine for this academic year. Of course, I am pained by having to make this decision as a solid proponent for the idea that the students really do make the University experience what it is and should be. I can only hope that these hurdles will be overcome in the future, and that the student voice and student life on campus outside of classes still exists so that we might keep UWindsor the vibrant school it is, full of amazing students who strive to make our school everything it can be and more. Sincerely,
