This April, the BC Dental Association encourages baby boomers to save for their future oral health needs when planning for their retirement. Often when working British Columbians retire they don't have a defined benefit pension plan in place and post-retirement health care benefits, including dental, are significantly reduced or terminated. Therefore, the BC Dental Association encourages adults to save for their future and their future well being. Oral health is an important part of one's general health. Through proper care and regular professional monitoring, oral diseases such as tooth decay (caries) and gum and bone disease (periodontal disease) can be minimized or even prevented. Regular dental visits can also screen for more serious diseases including oral cancer. Enclosed for you is a sample proclamation. We thank you in advance for helping us promote the importance of oral health, especially during Oral Health Month in April. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the BC Dental Association at 604 736 7202, Sincerely, Melanie Shim for Dr. Kary Taylor Chair, Oral Health Month Committee
