Tu:
So, Amir, I heard ... Iwas really surprised tohear that Iran traffic is sobad.
Amir:
Iran, yeah, Iran isactually very muchfamous for it's traffic.Traffic is so horrible.People have to just wait incars for ages just to get totheir places which is justby walking maybe fortyminutes, thirty minutes far from the place you are.
Tu:
So there are a lot of traffic jams?
Amir:
Yeah, yeah. Thecapacity of the streetsand the amount of car justdoesn't match, so peoplehave to wait for manyhours.
Tu:
Well, actually, youknow what, Vietnamesetraffic is also very terrible.
Amir:
Oh, OK, now youtell me about Vietnam?
Tu:
Yeah, especially HoChi Min City. I stillremember it was so scaryfor me, for the first time Igo to Ho Chi Min City.Well, you know, everyoneseems to be moving, andwe travel mostly by bikes,so you know, there are alot of bikes on the streetsand it seems like you getto move with them. If youstop, you're gonna get hit.
Amir:
Oh, so you justhave to flow with them.
Tu:
Yes, and there seemsto be no rules at all. Like, actually they used to be alot people who just goeswhen it is red light, andit's pretty common. It was. It's getting better now butstill, you I think it'sbecause there are a lot of bikes. Too many of them.
Amir:
OK, I am sure thereare reasons for this traffic, but before that, beforetelling me why this ishappening in your city, tellme, how you get used toit? How do you overcomethis craziness, thisanarchy you talk about?
Tu:
Yeah, actually, youknow, foreigners complainabout it a lot, all the time, but we actually, weVietnamese people, weactually not ... we don'tthink it's a matter. It's kindof a natural thing for us, to just get out of your houseand go with the flow andit's just ... it is somethingnormal, like every day life, and I think it's becausewe get to go by bicycleand motorbike prettysoon, pretty early, sincewe were primary school, and you know, one thingis, the bicycle inVietnam ... we go on thesame road with the carsand bikes, so everyonemoves at the same time.
