Tu:
Do you travel by car in Iran?
Amir:
Well, you know, when I was in Iran it was just like your case. I feltlike this is natural. This ishow I saw the traffic. Thiswas how it is supposed towork. When you goabroad, and like me rightnow, I'm living abroad, then I go back to Iran, Icannot drive with theflows again just likebefore. It is very difficultfor me. At first, I becomevery much like foreignersand get mad at everymistake, you know, everyillegal moves, you know, other Iranians are doing,so but after awhile I getthe hang of it, so then Ilearn how to really my getwork done.
Tu:
Well, actually, onemore thing is how dopeople cross the road inIran?
Amir:
Well, actually, thegovernment has built verygood infrastructure, so wehave this, you know, thispass-way that you canwalk, you know, and crossthe streets, but well, itreally depends on howmuch these roads arenow implemented, andhow people really feellike ...
Tu:
Following it.
Amir:
Following it. Yeah.
Tu:
Well, actually, onething in Vietnam, onething typical toVietnamese traffic ispeople cross the roadanyway they want.
Amir:
Yeah.
Tu:
We don't go withthem. Yeah, what do youcall it? The white one?The zebra? Like thecrossing line? We don'tcross?
Amir:
Ah, crosswalk!
Tu:
Yeah, yep, that one.We don't cross the roadthere. We just cross theroad whenever we wantand wherever we want.
Amir:
Oh, I see. So whathappens in case of anaccident, if the car hits apasserby?
Tu:
You know, actually, one of the amazing thingsis we never got hit by that.
Amir:
Never?
Tu:
And foreigners lookamazed at it. Like, they just can't believe it. They just don't know why? Howcome people cross theroad without ... butactually we just lookslowly, slowly, one-by-one, and we even cross infront of a car. It's prettynormal for us. It's easythough if you get used toit.
