Herbert and Tiffany Cooper moved from Springfield, Missouri,to Oklahoma City and launched People’s Church in 2002. On May12, 2002, the church had its grand opening with sixty-five peoplemeeting in a rented movie theater. Because the church was built ona strong God-given vision, five years later two thousand people callPeople’s Church their home.When I asked Herb what he believes God wants to accomplishthrough his ministry, he boldly described a future church with twentythousand attenders and two thousand small groups. Without takinga breath, Herb explained that People’s Church will one day start adaughter church or a new campus each year while giving over onemillion dollars annually to missions.Behind all of these numbers is Herb’s real passion. Because Herbis black and is married to a white woman, his family has a burden forbuilding a multicultural church. Herb says with passion, “Diversity iscelebrated. Every person is invaluable and irreplaceable. The eth-nic, social, and religious distinctions that divide society disappear inChrist. Our differences become our strengths. People’s Church is aunique atmosphere where
