The following information was obtained independently, from Gordon and was additionally verified by the Mossad. Gordon is a dual national American/Israeli. He was born in Israel where he attended local schools. He served in Sayeret 332 (Israel's elite Special Forces Unit) and was cited for bravery in combat. Gordon was recruited by the Israeli Mossad in 1966 and successfully completed its first Operational Course. In 1969, as a junior case officer, his identity was exposed to members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine during an agent meeting with a potential asset in Europe. Consequently, Gordon chose to resign from the Mossad, rather than be excluded from any future undercover assignments — a routine precautionary measure applied by the Mossad under these circumstances.
