NAME:ThenameofthisFellowshipshallbetheUNIVERSALFELLOWSHIPOFMETROPOLITAN COMMUNITYCHURCHES. A.Allaffiliatedlocalchurchgroupswillusethename"METROPOLITAN COMMUNITYCHURCH"initsofficialtitle.Thegroupmayaddeitheraprefix orasuffixtodistinguishitfromotheraffiliatedlocalchurches,suchas:"Grace MetropolitanCommunityChurch,""TrinityMetropolitanCommunityChurch," "MetropolitanCommunityChurchofLongBeach,"or"MetropolitanCommunity ChurchofTallahassee."OBJECTS: TheobjectiveofthisFellowshipshallbe: A.TobindtogetherChurchesforthepurposeofsharingintheWorshipofGod intheCongregationalChristiantradition,andtomakeHiswilldominantinthe livesofmen,individuallyandcollectively,assetforthintheHolyScriptures. B.Tosetupbodiesforinstructioninthescienceandphilosophyoftheology andkindredsubjectsforthepropagationoftheteachingsandphilosophyofthe ChristianFaith,asacceptedbytheGeneralConferenceoftheUniversalFellow- shipofMetropolitanCommunityChurches. C.Toinstructandindoctrinatethosewhoofferthemselvesintotheteachings andphilosophyasreceivedbythisbody. D.Todoallthingsthatarecompatiblewiththeworkandlaborofareligious body. )~RTICLEIII ThisFellowshipacknowledgestheHolyScriptureinterpretedbytheDivineSpiritthroughreason, Faithandconscience,asitsguidesinFaithandDiscipline,ThegovernmentofthisFellowshipis vestedinitsMinistersandChurchdelegates,whoexerttherightofcontrolinallofitsaffairs,sub- jecttotheprovisionsofitsarticlesofincorporationandBy-Laws.ThisFellowshipisamendableto nooutsideecclesiasticaljurisdiction,butacceptstheobligationofmutualcounsel,comityandco- operationinvolvedinthefreefellowshipofotherChristianChurches,anddoespledgeitselfto shareintheircommonaimsandendeavors,subjecttotheexpressedapprovalofitsmembership. AlocalChurchbodyintheUNIVERSALFELLOWSHIPOFMETROPOLITANCOMMUNITY CHURCHES,isthatbodywhichsubscribestothegovernmentanddoctrinesoftheUNIVERSAL FELLOWSHIPOFMETROPOLITANCOMMUNITYCHURCHES,andhasbeencharteredbythe same,andislistedintheminutesoftheGeneralConference.
