Legal Officer - Grade 11 (TTUC/LO/11) Duties and Responsibilities

The Legal officer shall represent TTUC in litigation, administrative proceedings and alternative disputes resolution proceedings; provide legal, tactical and strategic advice to Taita Taveta University Colleges administration Assume a leadership role in developing appropriate legal, risk management and compliance policies and practices. The Legal officer shall help in the preparation of legal briefs to the Universitys external lawyers for all Court cases, liaise with the University College external lawyers in relation to the pending legal matters, and prepare briefs to the Universitys staff Disciplinary Committees as well as the Student Disciplinary Committees.

Requirements: i. Must possess Masters degree in Law OR i. Must possess Bachelors degree in Law with three (3) years experience in grade 10 or comparable position ii. Must be Advocate of the High Court iii. Must be registered with LSK 2. Assistant Public Relations Officer/Assistant Corporate Communications Officer Grade 8 (TTUC/APR/8) Duties and Responsibilities i. Speech writing for the Principal and other Senior officers of the University College ii. Preparing and disseminating corporate publicity information materials like posters, banners, Calendars, Diaries, prospectus, monthly update newsletters iii. Contribute stories, photos and editing of the internal newsletter which is produced quarterly iv. Responsible for coverage of University Colleges activities (both video and photography) v. In charge of ensuring posting of all advertising both internally and externally (media houses) vi. Liaising with media (coverage of all University College functions) vii. Media monitoring and evaluation and bring to the attention of authorities for necessary action. viii. Participate in organizing and coordinating University exhibitions and agricultural shows. ix. Organizing and minute writing for PR departmental meetings x. Preparing travelling documents, itineraries, venues for the Chief Executive Officers xi. Assist in writing routine correspondence for the Principal xii. Follow ups of requests made by the PR office xiii. Participating in the outlook of the University College website Requirements: i. ADMINISTRATION, FINANCE AND PLANNING DIVISION 1. Senior Administrative Assistant I (Planning) Grade 11 (TTUC/SAA/11) Duties and Responsibilities i. Assist in data processing for administrative planning ii. Assist the University College in matters of Performance contracting iii. Assist the University College on ISO Matters. iv. Assist in Strategic Planning issues v. Assist in administrative records management Requirements: Must possess a Masters degree in Public Administration/Social Sciences or any relevant area with three (3) years experience in grade 10 or comparable position OR Must possess a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences and Public Administration or any relevant area with three (3) years experience in grade 9 or comparable position with CPS (K) 2. Senior Secretary/Office Administrator Grade 7/8/9 (TTUC/ES/9) Duties and Responsibilities i. Prepares and books all meetings for the officer to whom assigned ii. Operates and manages Office Float for the office to whom assigned iii. Orders and controls office stationery for the office. iv. Manages, administers and coordinates all in-coming and out-going mails/correspondence. v. Books appointments/updates and maintains the Diary for the officer to whom assigned vi. Public relations/Front desk operation for the officer to whom assigned vii. Filling/Retrieval and maintaining of records for the office. viii. Act as Secretariat to some meetings Requirements: Must possess Bachelors Degree in Secretarial Studies or Bachelor of Business and Office Management from a recognized institution OR Must possess Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies from Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution OR i. 3. Senior Drivers Grade 5/6/7 (TTUC/SD/7) Requirements: i. Must possess KCSE Certificate ii. Must possess Clean valid driving license Class A B C E and PSV licence/Special Type License iii. Must possess Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigation Department (CID) iv. Must have at least five (5) years driving experience three of which must be accident free v. Must possess Certificate in First Aid from a recognized institution vi. Must posses Occupational Trade Test I for drivers vii. Suitability Test for Drivers from the relevant Government Ministry viii. Must possess Defense of V.I.P. Training ix. Public Relations training will be an added advantage Finance Department 1. Senior Assistant Accountant I Grade 10 (TTUC/FIN/SAA/10) Duties and Responsibilities i. Preparation of departmental budgets based on Capitation and Approved Budget from Treasury ii. Compiling and computing the departmental budget Allocations iii. Preparing Budget allocation for the University Council iv. Preparation of Budget Reports v. Assigning work to other staff under him/her vi. Signing expenditure documents based on allocation. Requirements: Must possess Masters degree (Accounting/ Finance option) with three years post qualification experience in accounting/finance area OR Must possess CPA (K) or equivalent with proof of registration with ICIPAK OR i. Must possess Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Accounting/Finance option) and CPA Part II Section 3 & 4 or equivalent with three years experience at grade 9 or comparable position ii. Must have relevant Computer applications Procurement Department 1. Senior Assistant Procurement Officer II Grade 10 (TTUC/SAPO/10)

Duties and Responsibilities i. Preparation of consolidated procurement plans and facilitating approval of these plans as per budgetary allocations ii. Preparation of procurement schedules in a timely manner. iii. Verification of the budgets in conformance with the university budgetary allocations. iv. Forward planning for all procurements. Requirements: Must possess Masters degree with a bias in Procurement or Supplies Management OR i. Must possess Bachelors degree with a bias in Procurement/Supplies Management with three (3) years experience in grade 9 ii. Must possess Post Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies (Final Stage - CIPS) or equivalent from a recognized institution OR i. Must possess Higher National Diploma in Procurement/Supplies Management from a recognized Institution with three (3) years experience in grade 9 or comparable position ii. Must possess Post Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies (Final Stage - CIPS) or equivalent from a recognized institution Catering Department Senior Cateress/Senior Caterer - Grade 10 (TTUC/SC/10) Duties and Responsibilities i. Responsible for duty allocation & performance of staff. ii. Interprets the menu to the assistant Cateress/Caterer and Head Cook. iii. Responsible for professional preparation, production, service and sales of all meals. iv. Directs proper use and maintenance of equipment and materials in the Catering Department. v. Responsible for cleanliness and hygiene during operations. vi. Responsible for daily cost and sales analysis. Requirements: Must possess Masters degree in relevant area OR Must possess Higher National Diploma or Bachelors degree in relevant area from recognized Institution with three (3) years experience at Grade 9 or comparable position Health Unit 1. Medical Officer - Grade 12 (TTUC/MO/12) Duties and Responsibilities i. Attend to the health care needs of the inpatients and outpatients. ii. Do calls at night, weekends and public holidays.

Refer and follow up patients admitted to other hospitals. Supervise the Clinical Officers Member of the Hospital Management Committee

Requirements: i. Must possess MB, ChB degree or equivalent. ii. Must be registered with Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board. iii. Should have at least two years post qualification experience in a health facility. iv. Should have also competency in major areas of medical practice and be ready to work beyond normal working hours, including night and weekends. 2. Nursing Officer III Grade 7 (TTUC/NO/7) Requirements: Must possess Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing or its equivalent from a recognized Institution and be registered with Kenya Nursing Council ACADEMIC, RESEARCH AND OUTREACH DIVISION 1. Registrar (Academic, Research and Outreach) Grade 15 (TTUC/AC/15) The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Principal (Academic, Research and Outreach). He/She will provide administrative support to the University Academic Division, and specifically take overall charge of the following administrative functions: Duties and Responsibilities i. Effective coordination and implementation of university policies in the academic division. ii. Effective coordination of the formulation and implementation of Academic departmental strategic plans iii. Formulation, planning and control of Academic departmental budget. iv. Custody and management of academic records in line with university college policies and in tandem with best practices. v. Coordination of all teaching activities which include preparation of curricula, regulations, university almanac, timetables, examinations, result slips, transcripts, certificates and graduation. vi. Formulation and provision of policy guidelines on planning, development and management of academic programmes. vii. Guiding Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Directors of Schools or Institutes and Coordinators of Campuses. viii. Overseeing the administration of the students affairs which include admission, registration, orientation, student welfare, counseling, career guidance and discipline. ix. Coordination of student and staff research activities. x. Planning and organizing public lectures and student attachments in conjunction with the Deans and Heads of Departments. xi. Provision of secretariat to Academic Board and its committees

Requirements: i. The applicant must have served as Deputy Registrar/Academic Director or equivalent for at least 5 years and with exemplary work performance. ii. Must have an earned PhD degree in one of the academic disciplines taught at Taita Taveta University College. iii. The ideal candidate should be conversant with the running of academic affairs in a University or an institution of higher learning. iv. In addition the candidate should be conversant with strategic management techniques. v. Knowledge of and experience in performance management, report writing and business planning, and ISO Processes will be a key requirement. vi. Demonstrable experience in and contribution to initiating, managing and reporting on international linkages and collaboration in programme development and research. vii. Evidence of relevant research publications as well as participation and contribution at conferences will be a distinct advantage. Student Welfare Department 1. Assistant Student Counselor (Female) Grade 8 (TTUC/ASC/8) Duties and Responsibilities
i. Assist the Senior Students' Counsellor in carrying out counselling services at the University. ii. Assist University Students Peer Counsellors in their activities iii. Participate in student orientation exercise to familiarize them with counselling services at the University.

Requirements: i. Must possess a Bachelors degree in Counseling OR ii. Must possess a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences and a Diploma in Counseling 2. Sports & Games Assistant Officer II Grade 9 (TTUC/SGAO/9) Duties and Responsibilities i. Administratively in-charge of all sports activities in the College ii. Incharge of Physical Fitness Testing together with other officers for staff and students. iii. Ensure that sports teams are provided with appropriate sports gear all the times. Requirements: i. Must possess Bachelors degree in Physical Education or relevant area with three (3) years experience in grade 8 or comparable position ii. Must possess Advanced coaching certificate in relevant area
