Coordinator for Student Involvement Center Saint Louis University

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary: Under general direction, provides leadership and direction for programs and initiatives that impact student transitions and involvement by working with faculty, staff and students to develop comprehensive learning opportunities; oversees programs within the University community and/or external SLU community that may include first-year experience programs, sophomore/junior-year experience programs, senior-year experience programs, student activities, fraternity/sorority life, servant leadership initiatives, learning communities and commuter/transfer programs. CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include any and/or all of the following: 1. Coordinates and maintains programs that aid in the transition of students and their parents; designs, implements and coordinates with other University constituents programs and initiatives that assist in the development of students as they transition each year at the university; assesses program efforts for student learning and program improvements. 2. Oversees event and program management while working with student groups; advises/supervises, recruits and trains student staff/leaders. Develops students through the servant leadership model. 3. Assists in coordination of departmental programming and initiatives for all students, including transition programs, campus traditions, celebratory events, parent/family events, and other ongoing efforts. 4. Assists with the administrative operations, including the management of operational budgets. Coordinates with others marketing initiatives and assists with recruitment efforts involving prospective students. Coordinates print and web-based communication to students regarding programs and services. 5. Establishes ongoing collaborative relationships with academic and student development department as partners for the undergraduate experience, including membership on various campus-wide committees. 6. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of student development theories, Student Affairs, and university policies and resources. Knowledge of student affairs work such as learning communities, fraternity and sorority life, transition programs, student leader and involvement, and student programming. Sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population, including minority and international students Ability to maintain confidential information Ability to operate a personal computer and various software packages Ability to work a flexible schedule

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and experience equivalent to: Masters degree; supplemented with two (2) years of related experience. REMUNERATION The Coordinator for Student Involvement Center position is 12 months in tenure with a salary of $32,000 per year. Staff members accumulate annual leave in addition to the official holidays acknowledged by the University. The Coordinator is considered professional University personnel and is expected to work during student vacation periods unless personal accrued leave is taken or an official university holiday has been designated. The University offers an excellent benefits package, including choices in healthcare, investment opportunities and tuition remission for up to 18 graduate credit hours per calendar year. Of these hours, $5250 in tuition is tax-free. Reserved parking is available upon the individual purchase of a campus parking permit.
