ABOUT AED AND THE INFORMATIONTECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS CENTER
Since 1961 the Academy or Educational Development (AED), apreeminent human and social development organization, has workedto provide universal completion o quality education in Arica, theAmericas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. AED's eforts haveincluded improving teaching and learning, involving parents ineducation, creating more opportunities or girls, reaching out to thosenot served, and integrating technology into education, always with aview to establishing relevant and sustainable education systems.The AED Inormation Technology Applications Center (ITAC), whichresides within the Global Learning Group, designs and implementsprograms using inormation and communication technologies (ICTs)to improve the quality o pre- and in-service teacher proessionaldevelopment, uses pedagogical approaches that enhance studentlearning, and improves educators' collaborative work through cross-border and national virtual networks. Consistent with AED’s ocus onsolving critical social problems, ITAC pioneers innovative approachesto using appropriate technologies across all sectors.
