EXTERIOR. FLORIDA: A SUBURBAN STREET. DAY. A new sedan idles through a quiet, affluent neighborhood.On the car door is a sign: Tallahassee Sun-Times. The carstops in front of a two-story brick house. A young maleREPORTER and an older female PHOTOGRAPHER get out.PHOTOGRAPHEREver meet General Pace?REPORTERNope. Never even heard of him untilthis morning.PHOTOGRAPHERI guess you haven't.They go to the door and ring the bell. The door is openedby ARTHUR SERGEANT, a tall, stern man in his lateseventies.REPORTERGeneral Pace? We're from the Sun-Times. ARTHUR(Beat.)I'll go and get her.The REPORTER turns to the PHOTOGRAPHER, at a loss. GENERALELIZABETH PACE steps out of the door. She is a regal womanin her early seventies.PHOTOGRAPHERGeneral Pace, it's good to see youagain.The REPORTER shoots a lethal glance at his colleague.BETHCome in. We've been waiting for you.INTERIOR. GENERAL PACE'S HOUSE. DAY.The front room is busy with pictures and golf trophies.There are no military trappings or souvenirs. ARTHUR bringsin a tray of drinks.
