MISSIONARIES TO THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC & HAITI WITH G.O. MINISTRIES IN THIS ISSUE: MK PROFILE & SPRING NEWSHunter is our first born, old soul of a child.
Since he was a little boy, he’s always foughtfor the underdog. I’ll never forget his first
week of third grade, he was getting ready forschool and was stuffing Lego men in hispockets. I immediately told him to stop, thathe would most likely get in trouble for takingtoys to school. (We were new to town and I
wasn’t sure what was acceptable.)

“But, Mommy, Trenton can’t play tether ball
with everyone else so we need Legos for
recess time.”
 Trenton was in
Hunter’s class and he hadmuscular dystrophy. Hunter wasn’
t contentto run all over with Trenton reading under atree; he was going to take the action to
Trenton, and that’s just what he did. Hunter
will turn 17 in November and not much haschanged in the past 10 years.Hunter went on his first mission trip in March2012 during spring break. Mitch wantedHunter to experience what had set his ownheart ablaze and was hopeful Hunter wouldhave the same reaction. You could say that...By weeks end, Hunter was ready to move toHaiti and never return. When given the
choice between “Bible and Beach” with his
youth group or another trip to Haiti in July
(when it’s only 110 in the shade), he didn’
teven have to think about it. In fact, whenHunter took that second trip in July 2012, heended up sharing the purpose of his trip withthe gentleman sitting beside him on the firstflight. By the time the plane landed, thegentleman had given Hunter $100 for theorphanage where the team would stay.We jokingly say that full time missions was
Hunter’s passion before it was ever ours
, but
it’s really no laughing matter. From the fi
rsttime he was on the island, he was completelyat home.As we prepare to leave for the DominicanRepublic in June, Hunter has been engaging
in some preparations of his own. He’s been
reading Shadow of the Almighty: The Lifeand Testament of Jim Elliot and recently
decided he needed to take some of Jim’s
advice by switching to a vegetarian diet. Hesays he needs to be physically ready forKingdom service. We are proud to serve alongside this fineyoung man who has already made quite animpact for the Kingdom. To God Alone bethe Glory!
