On March 29, 2013, the Anza-Borrego Foundation (ABF) honored Diana Lindsay for her 30 years of volunteer service to that organization in support of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (ABDSP) with a reception held at La Casa del Zorro in Borrego Springs, California. Her tireless efforts to preserve one of Californias greatest treasures included efforts to block SDG&Es Sunrise Powerlinkoriginally destined to cross through the heart of ABDSPand early efforts to obtain privately held land within the boundaries of the park for ABFlater to be transferred to the State of California in the effort to make the park whole. She also served two terms as president of the ABF board. Kathy Dice, Superintendent of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, presented Diana a Medallion Award, the State of Californias highest honor for superior achievement in volunteer service at the March 29th event. Although Diana has retired from the ABF Board of Directors, her volunteer efforts on behalf of ABDSP are far from over. She is still a state park volunteer who serves on the steering committee for the ABDSP Botany Society. Diana also recently joined the Board of Directors of the San Diego Natural History Museum (SDNHM). As a member of this board she hopes to increase the general awareness of the spectacular beauty, historical value,

and natural history of San Diegos great desert region. Diana also serves as a SDNHM Canyoneer leading free public hikes, often with ABDSP. Diana is likely the foremost expert on and has authored several award winning books about the Anza-Borrego desert region. Diana is the founder and president of Sunbelt Publications.

The authors and their associates have recorded and documented more than 450 rock art sites within the region over the past 25 years in cooperation with the Kaibab National Forest, Grand Canyon National Park, Bureau of Land Management/Arizona Strip, and the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. Their work presents a preliminary classification of this rock art within a chronological framework and associated cultural affiliations. These enigmatic images are placed within their environmental and archaeological context, essential in deriving potential clues as to their function and significance.
