“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, whobeing in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equalwith God, but made himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming into the likeness of men. And beingfound in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and becameobedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him thename which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus everyknee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, andof those under the earth, and that every tongue should confessthat Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.(

)This beautiful and profound passage reveals to us Christ as ourpattern. Christ in His humiliation from the cradle of Bethlehem to theCross at Calvary, for us today “Good Friday”. In addition, Hisexaltation at the Resurrection Day, “Easter” and further His ascensioninto eternity. Christ did not please Himself, but was obedient untodeath, even the death of the cross, who is now exalted and has a namewhich is above every other name.There are seven steps which lead down deeper and deeper, even to thedeath of the cross; and, there are seven steps which lead up higher andhigher.
His Humiliation
1. He thought it not robbery to be equal with God.2. He humbled Himself.3. He became a servant.4. He was made in the likeness of man.5. He was found in fashion as a man.6. He became obedient.7. Obedient to the death.
