DACA Outreach Team Member- Independent Contractor Bay Area DACA Collaborative

Overview: On June 15, 2012 the Department of Homeland Security announced a new federal policy that grants temporary resident status and employment authorization to certain undocumented youth who were brought to the United States as children. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which took effect on August 15, 2012, promises to expand opportunities for undocumented immigrant youth throughout the country. The International Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1918 committed to providing high quality low cost immigration legal services to those in our community. IIBA is the fiscal sponsor and lead convening agency of the Bay Area DACA Collaborative; a ten county initiative aimed to ensure that significant numbers of undocumented youth and young adults have access to DACAs historic benefits. The Bay Area DACA Collaborative is assembling an outreach team, inclusive of DREAMers, to raise awareness about DACAs historic benefits amongst undocumented immigrant youth throughout the greater Bay Area. The outreach team will focus their efforts on hard to reach communities to increase awareness of and access to the benefits of DACA. Outreach team members will be responsible for contributing to and refining an outreach and engagement plan targeting hard-to-reach communities. Outreach team members will utilize their knowledge of the affected communities as well as DACA policy and advocacy efforts to identify key partnership opportunities, network with members of the Bay Area DACA Collaborative within their assigned jurisdiction, and meet assigned outreach deliverables. Outreach team members will work closely with the DACA Outreach Coordinator. Deliverables: Attend mandatory orientation to set guidelines for deliverables Submit monthly reports describing outreach strategy and deliverables met; to the DACA Outreach Coordinator
