------- Lifestyle ------------------------------------------Movie Review: Last Action Hero by B. Thao Lompoc, Calif. Its not every day that you find a gem or realize that youve overlooked something that has such hidden value as Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Last Action Hero is one of the movies I most often misquote because I love it so much. Ill not go on and on about the humor or action, but Ill say a few words about the story and one very specific scene. The story revolves around a high school teenager who escapes reality by watching and fantasizing about action movies. In particular, he enjoys the fictional Jack Slater series, which a appears to be a review or parody of the coporiented action movies, more specifically the Die Hard series. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the star of the action series, and makes a cameo appearance as himself in later scenes of the movie. Through the use of an interesting plot twist and with a movie ticket with mystical Tibet origins, this teenager is transported into the movie Jack Slater IV, where he consistently and comically analyzes the movie as Jack Slaters action-movie comic side-kick. Unfortunately the movie ticket is lost to the bad guys who escape into the real world, and Jack Slater and the teenager must stop him. Thats the story. Yes, its corny. Yes, its worth your time. But if thats not enough for you, I pose the following: The Last Action Hero has one of the most well-thought out car chase scenes in an action comedy. Jack Slaters Pontiac Bonneville convertible is chased by machine-gun toting bad guys in a power-sliding Ford F-100; sticks of

Vol. 2, Issue 15==========================================================April 17, 2013 dynamite are tossed between the cars; explosions happen; random bullets make the cars of innocent bystanders explode; and a Toyota Previa with a mini-gun blocks off a bridge, forcing Jack Slater to drive off the bridge to start a chase in the Los Angeles River Culvert. The most important part is when mini-vans blow up in mid-air for no apparent reason, or when Jack Slater is driving with absolutely no-hands on the steering wheel while making impressive headshots. Ive not done this movie any justice with this review, but youll just have to take my word for it and watch the chase scene.
